Disc One ( DFECT34CDS ) »
Radio Edit
“ Another Chance ” begins with luscious, warm organ keys and pads are dropped in, along with a heavily vocoded under-sung male vocal and a little percussion. Roger manipulates the organ chords with a selection of low pass filters and flangers. Suddenly, tough US beats kick in and pump the song up. Half way into the mix, small guitar licks harmonise with the keys. Cascading keys are added for the beat-less bridge section of the track, before the bass drums are reapplied and the track powers towards an end.

Afterlife Mix
The organ keys are played over a soaring pads and more piano keys are added to create several layers of notes, which lay on a platform of synthesiser. The lyrics are played quietly at the back of the mix and the little beats there are, come in the form two live simple drums. The vocals are moved forwards, at a slower pace. Meanwhile twangy guitar licks compliment the existing assortment of harmonising organs. This chill out mix is excellent and encapsulates the freshness and emotiveness which has made “ Another Chance ” so successful.

S-Man's Dark Nite Mix
Solid drums preceed a looped, “Tonight” vocal, whereupon a tight percussion loop is placed on top of the kick drums. A bubbling, dark piano bassline is kept in the background while a “If I had another chance tonight” vocal pushes the original one liner to the middle of the mix. Thunderous sound effects are added liberally over the groove by Roger Sanchez, as are short, sharp tin drum drum rolls. A little boring for my taste because the breakdown occurs too late and the mix is devoid of funkiness, being dominated by beats and a quiet, unoriginal bassline.
