The first news update of 2002! Once again, Defected have their hands full (and ours) with tons of new releases:

Gene Farris - “ The Big Doobie ” and “ A Better World ” to appear on his next Fluential E.P.

Hott 22 - “ Joy ” is a cheeky little disco-house number which takes a snatch of vocals from DJ Phenix's “ Vinyl & Polyester ”. It's on Spectrum.

“ Nothing To Prove ” by Roger Sanchez, with the girl from Texas on vocals (Shareen Spitari?).

Liquid People (Conan Manchester and Dan Smith - Secret Souls) - “ Monster ”. defected | respected said that it had definitely been picked up and this month, and the official site has confirmed this!

More tracks have been snapped up by the label: Smokin' Jo “ Psycho Bitch ” (Fluential), Cellabos & DJ Chus “ Africa ” (Fluential), Muzik Junkies “ Opium E.P. (Fluential), Kings Of Tomorrow's “ Young Hearts ” and 68 Beats “ Free Your Mind”. Also, there's going to be a new set of mixes for Kidstuff's “ Alright ”. Union Square's second release is set to be Una Mas' “ I Will Follow ”. A fifth Defected mix compilation is due to be released, featuring past and present tunes. It'll mixed by Seamus Haji and Smokin' Jo. Ian Proctor

Paul Jackson will be releasing an E.P. soon. One track is called “ Bulldozer ” - the only known mix at the moment is the Demo Mix, which I assume is a white label test pressing. Ian Proctor

Rumours

Warren Clarke and Smokin' Jo have teamed up in the studio to create a track called “ Body & Soul ”. There's a good chance Defected will pick it up! Ian Proctor
